Mickey Gilley & Charly McClain perform “CANDYMAN” on Solid Gold

Roy Orbison had a hit with “CANDYMAN” in the 1960s as the B-side to “Crying.”  In true classic fashion, “CANDYMAN” was  a hit again, this time in the country charts, for Mickey Gilley & Charly McClain in the 1980s!  Here they are performing the song on the television show Solid Gold accompanied by some great dance moves!

Happy Birthday Charlie McCoy!

Happy Birthday to Charlie McCoy, Roy Orbison’s harmonica player!!!

Roy Orbison was a great harmonica player. His studio musician was the greatest of all harmonica players- Charlie McCoy. This is the song that gave McCoy the name “Mr. Harmonica.” Here is “CANDYMAN” from the Black & White Night Concert.  On this version Elvis Costello covers the harmonica part.
