Roy Orbison & Buddy Holly

February 3, 1959 is known as The Day the Music Died.

The world lost some fantastic musicians and Roy Orbison lost some dear friends.

In particular, Buddy Holly’s death left Roy shaken and unresolved. Buddy was like a little brother to Roy, having grown up in the same part of Texas.  The two even did some of their early recordings at the same studio- Norman Petty Studios, in Clovis, New Mexico.  Here’s Roy’s version of “AN EMPTY CUP AND A BROKEN DATE” that Buddy Holly & The Crickets also recorded-
