“Roy Orbison‘s classic album Mystery Girl was first released in 1989, after the rock legend died at 52 from a heart attack. Now, 25 years later, Mystery Girl returns May 19 both as an expanded CD and as a CD-DVD set that includes a documentary on the album’s creation.
Both the CD and the DVD feature a new song, “The Way Is Love,” which Orbison’s sons helped produce from an old vocal track.
“We’ve been around the office calling this the kitchen sink,” Orbison’s son Alex said. “It really is a culmination of having all of the bonus audio, the nine tracks that we dug up and everything ranging from ‘The Way Is Love,’ which was a work tape demo recorded on a boom box and keyboard that we’ve gone and stripped off the backing.’
