You’re invited to attend the Roy Orbison Birthday Picnic and Celebration in Vernon, Texas on April 23rd from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at his birthplace at the corner of Lamar and Pease Streets in downtown Vernon. Come and enjoy the party of live music from the 50s and 60s! The music is sponsored by Vernon H&R Block. Free hotdogs and drinks! Happy Birthday Boudleaux Bryant!

One half of the legendary husband and wife songwriting team, Boudleaux and his wife, Felice, wrote countless hits for artists like Little Jimmy Dickens and The Everly Brothers.  The two penned such classics as “Rocky Top,” “Wake Up Little Susie,” and of course, “LOVE HURTS.”

Numerous artists have recorded “LOVE HURTS” over the years from Roy Orbison to Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, Nazareth, and Doug Seegers.  Here’s an early Roy Orbison recording of “LOVE HURTS” just in time for Valentine’s Day-
