Happy Birthday James Burton!

August 21, 2015 by admin

Happy Birthday, James Burton!
“While I was in the studio recording Roy Orbison’s IN DREAMS: GREATEST HITS album, I was asked to perform with the TCB Band on the BLACK AND WHITE NIGHT. In my opinion this was one of the greatest moments in music history. Every time I watch the video from that night, I see something new and different. It takes me right back to that time. I knew after the show that night that music magic had been created. It was one of the highlights of my career.”

Happy Birthday Wesley Orbison!

Here’s a photo of a young Wesley on Roy and Barbara’s wedding day.  Wesley, a musician in his own right, wrote “THE ONLY ONE” for Roy Orbison’s album Mystery Girl and sang and played guitar with his brothers on the newest Roy Orbison song “THE WAY IS LOVE,” released by Sony Legacy and Roy’s Boys on last year’s Mystery Girl Deluxe album.

lonely and blue
Roy Orbison was a pioneer of American rock music, but his life was marred by a series of tragic incidents that were reflected in his melancholic musical style and vulnerable, emotionally driven lyrics.
The Texas-born musician rejected the notion that rock should be driven by conventional song structure, backbeat, and macho Presley-esque themes, and instead allowed for his voice and earnest delivery to dictate his legacy as a musician. When he released “Only the Lonely” in 1960, fellow artists and fans finally got on board, acknowledging the timeless nature of the track as well as the contradictory sound — simultaneously graceful and unsettling.
