In 1955, Roy Orbison found a great place to record in Clovis, New Mexico at Norman Petty Studios. He told his friend/rival Buddy Holly about it when they were teenagers and there Buddy recorded “That’ll Be the Day”, “Peggy Sue” (and 3 Orbison songs). The Norman Petty Trio were famous themselves for “Mood Indigo”. Here’s Vi Petty touring the legendary studio, where Roy recorded before he went to Sun Records.
