EXCLUSIVE: LISTEN TO A LOST ROY ORBISON TRACK

“Roy was just the sweetest guy, and he had the most amazing laugh,” Tom Petty told me at the launch party for his Mojo album in 2010 when I asked what his friend and fellow Traveling Wilbury Roy Orbison was like. “He had the most amazing voice, even if he was just working something out, it was always just… there.”

“It was like watching Evel Knievel jumping his motorcycle when he sang,” Roy’s son Alex Orbison remembers of his father’s performances. “It was like tightrope walking. It was such an incredible thing to witness. I remember thinking, ‘Here it comes,’ and holding my breath every time.”

NEW “CALIFORNIA BLUE” Video Debuts on Wall Street Journal Speakeasy

May 6, 2014 by admin

New “CALIFORNIA BLUE” (Studio Demo) 2014 Video!

This new video debuted today on The Wall Street Journal Speakeasy

“The demo-version of “California Blue” is one of nine bonus tracks on the deluxe edition, which also includes the new song “The Way Is Love.” The tune pairs a restored Orbison vocal track with newly recorded guitar, bass and drums played by the singer’s sons, Roy Jr., Alex and Wesley. (The three comprise Roy’s Boys LLC, which collaborated with Sony Legacy on the reissue.) There’s also a demo of Orbison singing “She’s a Mystery to Me” with studio chatter from Bono (who co-wrote the song with U2 bandmate theEdge) and a DVD with a one-hour documentary about the making of the album and eight videos.”
