“TOO SOON TO KNOW” BY ROY ORBISON

“TOO SOON TO KNOW” BY ROY ORBISON

After suffering the incomprehensible tragedy of losing his wife, Claudette, in a motorcycle accident, Roy Orbison was sidelined briefly from recording to look after his family.  However, wanting to put his best face forward, MGM Records released a single from what would be Roy’s fourth MGM album, ROY ORBISON SINGS DON GIBSON.  That single was, “TOO SOON TO KNOW,” a decade old song written and previously recorded by Don Gibson.  Many fans were not aware of this, however, and interpreted it as a song written about Claudette.  The backlash led to the song being pulled from the airwaves in some markets, but despite all this, it went to #3 in the UK.

Here’s Roy Orbison’s beautiful rendition of, “TOO SOON TO KNOW”-
