LAUREN DALEY: Chris Isaak salutes early rockers on new album

“Daley: You’re such a blend of all those Sun guys — Cash, Elvis, Orbison. Who’s your favorite Sun artist? Which influenced you the most?

Isaak: I love Elvis, and no doubt he has the most hits and his movies run all the time, so he’s always a presence, but I think I was equally crazy about Orbison, and when I got to meet him and work with him, it was just wonderful. He was just a really nice man, and he took time to hang and to sort of show me things and encourage me when I’m sure he could have just been sitting by the pool. I won’t ever forget him. Not just his music, him. A good guy.”
