That’s what he wanted with the beat and that’s what he wanted with the energy of the song. He came up with those great lines, you know, ‘Like a switchblade to my heart / Words tearing me apart.’ That’s good, that’s Orbison-y, but my dad never wrote anything quite so graphic.'”
