Just Announced! Roy’s Boys to perform at The Fest

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Jeff Slate‘s Birds of Paradox & Roy’s Boys present Weekend Wilburys at The Fest For Beatles Fans, on March 10!

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Traveling Wilburys — George Harrison’s supergroup with Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Roy Orbison — Jeff Slate’s Birds of Paradox will mark their fifth Fest appearance by joining forces with Roy’s Boys, the late-Roy Orbison’s sons, Roy Jr., Wesley and Alex Orbison. After past performances spotlighting Wings’ Back To The Egg album and John Lennon’s One To One concert, featuring members of Wings, the Plastic Ono Elephant’s Memory Band and Ringo’s All-Starr Band, brought down the house, frontman Jeff Slate — who attended his first Fest in 1979 — knew he had to deliver something special. And since he’d teamed up recently with Roy Jr., Wesley and Alex Orbison on The Authorized Roy Orbison, the first estate sanctioned biography of the rock and roll legend, and with the anniversary of the release of The Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 looming, it was only natural to treat fans at this year’s Fest with a supergroup featuring Roy Orbison’s sons alongside musicians who have shared the stage and recorded with everyone from David Bowie to Roy Orbison himself. Birds of Paradox and Roy’s Boys will present their show, Weekend Wilburys, on Saturday afternoon (around 2PM), and will be meeting fans afterwards, signing copies of their new book, CDs and other items. Jeff and Roy’s Boys will have a talk about Roy Orbison’s close ties with The Beatles, with a Q&A to follow. Alex Orbison will also be a part of the Fest’s drum symposiums, headed by Modern Drummer magazine’s Billy Amendola. We are thrilled and honored to welcome Roy’s Boys to their first Fest. They will be joining us all day Saturday and through late Sunday afternoon. Stay tuned for more information on their appearance in the coming weeks.
